I don't really see the purpose. The latest incarnation of Forza Motorsport, Forza Horizon, and perhaps the occasional bit of Dirf is all that I need for my racing games. I must say on the other side of the genre, the new Most Wanted by Critereon looks very fun...

Personally, I enjoyed the first Grid. I liked many of the things it had to offer, some of my favourite circuits, cars, and some fun little side-event type things. But the actual driving experience was shocking, which in turn ruined the game for me.

If CM sort thief physics out, (and they did a great job of F1 2011 (Can't wait for 2012 Very Happy)) then I may be inclined to think about getting Grid 2, but I'll certainly be going off of reviews and videos, demos etc. I won't just buy it and hope for the best Razz

Spa, god that track needs to be in FM, I want somewhere other than the Nurburgring Nordescheliefe to amuse myself...

I just can't justify getting a game with better tracks and better graphics but with far far fewer cars - especially road cars, far less in depth customisation and worse physics.

I'll definitely keep an eye on it though, the trailer was decent but not mind blowing...

    No, I see you point.

A point which myself and several other have raise for FM5, we need more tracks.

But that's hijacking the thread Wink

Agreed!! I could even live with less cars and more tracks! Its not as though they added many more than in Forza 3!

The amount of rubbish other racing games Ive bought though just to have a blast around other tracks...

All the Grid games ( they started in the late 90's with the TOCA Race Driver title and are including 5 or 6 releases) were great fun to play. Every single release was a milestone of innovative gameplay and graphics. So I wondered that Codemasters seemed to have dropped this game series.
If you like racing you can't do wrong by buying a TOCA/Grid game.
I am happy that it will be continued now and I am looking forward to know more about the new title.

I know little info's been released but just what does GRID 2 have that FM4 doesn't?

The trailer looked fun, what I wanted was PGR5 with Forza Physics...

At least a far better career mode... with team management options, sponsoring and so on.

The races will be more specified too than in forza. Be sure there won't race a tuned S- class smart against a Ferrari F40 for example. You will have real race series like the dtm, clio cup, FIA GT and Formula series.

I still have some of the old TOCA games Very Happy

Got Race Driver on my ps2 and I has TOCA touring cars 2 for the ancient ps1 Razz

Excellent games though. So many memories.

Grid does have a far better career mode than forza, for the reasons that Blue suggested.

I have such great memories of TOCA: Race Driver 2 & 3. These were my favorite PC racing games, Toca:RD3 even had my local track Castle Combe in it! Its a shame the series has gone a bit Need for Speed!

    Thanks for the answers guys.

In many ways I prefer Forza's "career" mode. You have to do one race, and then do what you want.

A real advance from NFS linear career path style careers. Quite like the idea of building up and managing a team.

I'll definitely consider it, and it's a good point about having dedicated series as opposed to merely PI based events. DTM is luring me...

I played all the PS1 + PS2 TOCA games very heavily, I know they are dated now and I could never go back, agreed each one was ground breaking at the time
I used to live on grid, soooo many hours, it was fast and the races always thrilling but yes I know totally unrealistic, I loved so many of the tracks, I will certainly check out Grid 2 so thanks for the heads up.

I have mailed Code Masters many times, reminding them their TOCA fans are still waiting for their ultimate 360 Touring Car game. Crying or Very sad

    Very Happy

The TOCA: Race Driver games were great on the PC, looked much better than the console versions too.

I think it looks pretty good, the rocky sides of the coast road looked nicely detailed, I will probably grab a copy when it has been out a while, just to drive some where different.
